About the Conference

The ongoing process of globalization has induced a discernible shift towards an integrated and interdependent global economy. With this paradigm shift the interrelationships among the major players and their roles in the development process are undergoing fundamental changes. While globalization and the new development models have provided challenging opportunities for prosperity of nations, the same is also being criticized for its undesirable socioeconomic impacts. It is also felt that liberalization and privatization are leading to marginalization of poorer sections of the society. The recent global economic crises have further aggravated the problems calling for redefining the roles of different players in ensuring sustainable development for building a better society. There are many areas of conflicting interests that are required to be resolved. It has to be, therefore, an endeavor of policy makers, researchers and development practitioners to arrive at a contextual and universally acceptable policy framework for building a better global society.

The Conference aims at bringing together academicians, business leaders, policy makers and other stakeholders from around the world to deliberate on the issues concerning the Conference theme. The exchange of experiences and research findings among the participants will help in defining the new frontiers of research and practices on the changing relationships between business, State and civil society organizations. The Conference is structured to bring in a cross-country perspective and create an excellent opportunity for discussing the various dimensions of the emerging paradigms for a better global society.
