The students of NMAMIT were the winners of Manthan 2010, a business plan presentation contest conducted by the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FKCCI) on May 12, to encourage young talents.
JS Deeksha, K Deepa Shenoy and P Chetan Kumar won a cash prize of Rs.50,000, a rolling shield and individual certificates. Their project dealt with the production of bio-ethanol by processing agriculture waste.
Kaushik Nandan and Mithun Todakar of Siddaganga Institute of Technology were the first runners-up for their presentation plan on Knowledge-based expert system for diagnosis and treatment of diseases in coconut palm and sugarcane crop, while Sushil Kumar of Indian Institute of Business Management and Technology, Bangalore was the second runner-up for his plan to reduce fuel consumption in automotive vehicles by replacing metallic doors with carbon fibre doors.
